"I just had to put ‘fingers to keys’ as I wanted to express our heartfelt thanks personally to you, James and of course to your tutors."

"Just to let you know that Nic rocked common entrance and got straight As (which means over 71%) in all subjects except RS. So many many thanks - we are hugely relieved!"
Over the years, many students and parents alike have written to us to express their gratitude.
Here are a few examples.
Hello Wendy,
I hope you had a good break. I just wanted to let you know that Kamal did very well in his common entrance to Tonbridge. His average was an A and he won the prize for best results in his class. Please say a big thank you to Alex and Tonje for the effort they put in.
Our next challenge is to make sure Kamila also does well in her GCSE's next year.
Thanks again.
Dear James,
After a successful set of GCSEs my dyspraxic son ploughed his AS levels badly. When his highly regarded fee paying West London school was unable to offer any remedial support, James Layland made the effort to find a set of tutors who were not only highly qualified but had the energy and personality to re-engage my son with his studies and enable him to gain the grades he needed to gain a University place in his chosen subject.
Grazi for my lessons! They really helped and I think Maths went well. I really can’t thank you enough.
Dear Wendy,
I just had to put ‘fingers to keys’ as I wanted to express our heartfelt thanks personally to you, James and of course to your tutors. Your professional and especially your personal and friendly approach to helping my son fine-tune his learning and revision has helped him achieve his goals in a calm and stress free manner.
Having initially phoned several agencies and found them to be rather cold and not particularly helpful, you were recommended by a friend – the best cup of coffee ever! The whole experience has been seamless, every tutor has ‘pasted-muster’ and none of them have been clock-watchers, which is very important when in the middle of a complicated equation or physics problem.
The upside is A*’s and importantly a very happy stress free child and of course ecstatic parents. We can’t help but recommend you enough, we shall certainly be back for our other children and we are confident in the knowledge that we don’t need to keep you a secret as you seem to have plenty of excellent, highly experienced tutors to go around.
Once again keep up the good work as it worked for us.
Just to let you know that Nic rocked common entrance and got straight As (which means over 71%) in all subjects except RS. So many many thanks - we are hugely relieved!
Thank you very much for the feedback on French and Maths for Ladi; it was very useful ... My best regards to Wendy, Tolani thoroughly enjoyed her lessons and loved the cat.
We are so pleased to have met George. He burst into our lives when my son had messed up his University entrance and had left school with no University place and was very down. George is one of the most energetic people that I’ve ever met and really works hard to get the good outcome. I watched him inject the fire back into my depressed child the first time that we all met. He went on to advise, mentor and coach and the result was an Oxbridge offer
We're all proud to hear that Colum has been offered places at Mill Hill and Portland Place, and is probably going to choose the former. Much credit to him, but also to all the excellent tutoring you provided.
Hope you're all well.
Monike has been asked to try for the scholarship examinations at Cheltenham Ladies College on the 8th-9th Feb.
I know that her lessons played a role in preparing her and giving her the confidence to do so well in the exams. I would like to say a big thank you.
Could you also please inform Simon and Mr Podder...
PS We await the Wycombe abbey exam
I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH! You have not only made Koah enjoy Mathematics but also been generous beyond measure.
Hi James,
Henry got an A in both his Maths and Physics. He was particularly pleased with the Maths result. He got a C in German which doesn't sound great but frankly it's a miracle he passed at all.
He's planning to do Physics at A Level - and Andrew is starting at Dame Alice Owen's next month - so I'm sure we'll be back to see you soon!
Many thanks for all your help with Henry's exams - I'm sure the good result is down to you. Please pass on our thanks to Brigitte too.
Will be in touch soon.
Hi Dr Podder,
I hope you are well.
I have just started my medicine course at the University of Nottingham! I could not have got here without your help, so thank you so much!
Dear James and David,
We have just had Jamie's A-level results and he has done very very well. An A in physics and a B in History.
We could not be more delighted and thank you for your hard work and excellent teaching.
I always pass your name on as the best tutorial organisation in London.
(you can use that too!)
Honestly your tutors are nothing short of AMAZING 🤩
I doubt she would have been able to get through it especially with lockdown! We look forward to getting back in touch in the future - we have tentatively mentioned it to Richard and Jack as Amalia would be looking for help with Biology and Psychology to start with. She is also hoping to take English and Spanish so we may need even more assistance!!! Thank you also for being a real delight and so very thoughtful to Amalia and our family xxx
I cannot thank you enough or recommend you highly enough.
Harry was an excellent tutor and I was very impressed with his teaching. Before he started tutoring me I was really struggling with economics and didn’t understand my course, however Harry went through the whole syllabus very thoroughly with me and this allowed me to feel confident in the fact that I knew we had covered everything that I could be asked in my exam. We also focused a lot on exam technique doing lots of practice questions and model answers, as completing exams was an area that I was finding difficult. Even after just a month of tutoring my results had gone from D to A. I was very pleased with Harry teaching and I highly recommend him as a tutor as I think that he was very committed to teaching me and helped me to understand a subject that I was really struggling with.
Thanks Wendy.
So far, she is very impressed with Dan who has a nice style and clearly makes her think!!
I just wanted to write and say thank you to Monica - from both Ella and me.
Thanks to her excellent tutoring and some hard work Ella got an A in Biology and is off in a couple of weeks to study Psychology at Sussex University - her first choice.
Lulu will contact you to arrange her lesson at a time to suit you both. I am in New Zealand at the moment! She was thrilled with her 1st lesson with you so THANKYOU!
Dear Wendy,
How are you?
Guess what...just yesterday Sohan was awarded the academic scholarship for Sevenoaks School Kent. We are on cloud 9 and can't seem to stop floating...thanks for all the help and skills your team gave to Sohan.
Please extend my warmest regards to Mr. Richard Watson
I have known James for 7 years and he has tutored all 3 of my boys at some point in maths and the sciences. James has also provided tutors for us in many different subjects. As a maths tutor, James is exceptional. He has a unique ability to instill confidence in my children when they most need it. They will simply not accept anyone else. As a science tutor he makes subjects that are daunting fun. James is always available and is often there to provide support and advice. Through Elm Village Tutors, James is always able to provide first class tutors. He takes time to listen to our specific needs and understands different personalities and what is required. Our most recent experience of this was a request for a tutor to help my 18 year old son with his History A Level. He had just managed a D in his mock! He needed a tutor to help him with Russia,1941- 1991 and we were that specific. James found us a tutor who supported our son via skype sessions. Our son has just been awarded an A* in his History A Level and scored 100% in the Russia paper. what more can I say.
